The Fells Garden Tour 2017

The gardens and grounds at our historic New London bed and breakfast have been a stunning feature of the property since our founding as an Inn in the 1860’s. Prior to that, the rich soil of the property provided a bountiful harvest for Lakeside Farm dating back to 1789.  From the sculpted apple trees surrounding the patio to the herb garden behind the barn, each of our gardens has been tended with care for a long time.  Nestled on the northern shore of Pleasant Lake, our gardens are blessed with sweeping views across the lake to Mt. Kearsarge, incorporating a unique sense of spaciousness and a connection to the grander scale of nature.

We also have a deep respect for our history, and our gardens incorporate that.  The barn, built in 1789, was recently refurbished and provides a picturesque backdrop for some of our gardens.  The Inn itself is a crucial element of the garden’s sense of history.  The stone walls lining the main patio gardens have an interesting story.  They were painstakingly reclaimed from the foundation of the barn during the refurbishment, and reused in a construction method consistent with the period when the inn was built, giving an authentic sense of age to the walls.

Beautiful New Hampshire Gardens

Our gardens are constantly evolving reflecting the vibrancy of the Inn.  Last year a lovely pergola garden was added to the property with benches to sit and enjoy the fragrances and views of the lake.  The daffodil rows help accentuate the stone walls of this garden.  We also added an herb garden next to the barn to provide Chef with fresh herbs to support his palette of flavors in the kitchen.  Come delight your senses as your stroll through the gardens of the Inn at Pleasant Lake.
