Inn at Pleasant Lake's Room Number 2

Room 2: Awaken Refreshed to Incredible Views!

Room 2 has always been one of our more popular standard rooms.  It is conveniently located on the second floor at the top of the stairs.  A corner room, it offers gorgeous views over the lake to Mt. Kearsarge as well as a side view over the patio gardens.  With so much to offer, it was our next target for renovations at our B&B in NH, which were just completed in January.

One of our favorite features of Room 2 is how the configuration affords one of the best views in the house of Pleasant Lake and Mt. Kearsarge, whether lying in bed or relaxing in the comfortable sitting area.  In the winter, the sun comes up over the mountain to the south and the sunrise waking from this bed can be spectacular.  In the summertime, when conditions are right, the moon will rise over the mountain casting a shimmering beam along the length of the lake.  All this without having to get out of bed!  With a bottle of wine delivered to the room, this is a spectacular experience.  You can see why the local folklore cites this very spot as the inspiration for Kate Smith’s theme song, “When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain.”  Whatever your desires – tranquility, convenience, comfort, or breathtaking views, Room 2 is a great choice!

While Room 2 was not terribly out of date, there were several functional enhancements we wanted to make for the comfort and convenience of our guests.  Sound insulation was applied to the interior walls for added tranquility.  While we had the walls open, it only made sense to provide more electrical outlets and add some additional sconce lighting features.  We gave the room a richer feel with the wall tones, new carpet and crown molding accents.  We also renovated the bathroom with a new tile floor and fixtures as well as improved lighting, adding to the luxury of the full-sized shower and tub.  Interestingly, the antique furniture really seemed to pop with the new décor, and other than a new luxury pillow-top mattress for the bed, we replaced little else.

Renovation work Room 2 at NH B&B

As with most projects at the Inn, this was a great team effort!  I’d like to especially thank Amanda for all her support and work on this room.  Also, the design of the décor was a true collaboration and I wanted to thank our whole design team for their talents in selecting the stunning colors.

Next on the schedule this spring will be Room 7.
